Five men aged between 30 and 39 were arrested by the PNP in the municipality of Santiago do Cacem, Setubal district, on suspicion of stealing 1,300 kilograms of cork, it was announced on Tuesday.
The PNR territorial command in Setúbal said in a statement that the arrests took place on Tuesday following a report of a theft of a cork, when Guard troops arrived at the scene and intercepted a “loaded” truck with a cork.
Following a police investigation, the GNR discovered that the suspects had removed the cork “without the legal permission” of its owner and that the suspects were in possession of approximately 1,300 kilograms of the stolen cork, which was confiscated, as well as the vehicle they used. .
The suspects were named as accused and the facts were submitted to the Santiago do Cacem court.
