The cost of houses in August increased to 1538 euros/m2

The price assigned to houses by bank appraisers as part of a home loan has increased for the sixth time in a row. The latest data from the National Institute of Statistics (INE), published this Wednesday, shows that the average house price in August was 1,538 euros per square meter, 13 euros more than in July.

In fact, all regions showed growth compared to the previous month, with the exception of the Algarve (-0.6%), with the most significant increase recorded in the Azores at 5.6%. Compared to August 2022, the median value of reviews increased by 8.8%,

The value assigned to apartments by appraisers was set in August at 1,707 euros/m2, an increase of 8.2% compared to August 2022. The highest values ​​were recorded in the Algarve – 2159 euros/m2 and in the Lisbon metropolitan area. , which reached 2054 euros/m2.

In housing, the cost in August was 1197 euros/m2, which is 6.3% more than in the same month of the previous year. Compared to July, the assessed value of real estate, based on applications from banks, increased by 1.1%.

Also in the housing sector, the highest values ​​were found in the Algarve (2178 euros/m2) and in the Lisbon metropolitan area (2059 euros/m2).

NIN took into account 24,605 ​​assessments (15,875 apartments and 8,730 houses), which is 6.3% less than for the same period in 2022. When compared with the previous period, it turns out that 276 fewer bank assessments were carried out, which corresponds to a decrease of 1.1%.
