A 27-year-old woman was arrested for domestic violence against her 75-year-old mother. In the house where they lived, in Marville, Lisbon, the neighbors knew about the attacks, but the aggressor forced the victim to lie.
The Public Security Police (PSP) said in a statement that the complaint was filed last Saturday by a family member and after an investigation and the collection of “several” witness statements, an arrest was made.
The elderly woman “has been subjected to aggression and psychological abuse by her adopted daughter over the past few years,” the PSP said in a note.
“The victim had old footprints at the time of her arrest and still had footprints from the attack a few minutes before the police arrived. The aggressor, unemployed and dependent on her mother, used all the pension money for her expenses, preventing the rest of the family from approaching the victim.”
The woman was brought in for the first court interrogation and is in pre-trial detention.
