Barcelona, Porto’s rival in the Champions League, beat Sevilla 1-0 this Friday, in the eighth round of the Spanish Football League, to temporarily take the lead in the championship.
The Blaugrana, with Portugal internationals Joao Cancelo and Joao Felix in the starting lineup, won in the 76th minute, taking advantage of an own goal by defender Sergio Ramos, who attempted to turn the ball into his own net.
With this result, Barcelona leads the championship with 20 points, Girona is second with 19 points, and Real Madrid is third with 18 points. The teams will face each other on Saturday and could climb to the top of the Spanish league.
Barcelona will now visit Porto in the second round of the Champions League group stage scheduled for Wednesday, in a clash between the two sides who won the first round and are tied on points.
