Portugal was named Europe’s top travel destination at the World Travel Awards, which took place on Friday in Batumi, Georgia.
At the same ceremony, the city of Porto was voted the best European city holiday destination, the Algarve was named the winner of the “Best Beach Destination in Europe”, Lisbon was voted the best city destination in Europe, Madeira was voted the best island destination in Europe. Europe and Passadisos do Paiva in Arouca (Aveiro district) as the best attraction of adventure tourism.
In addition to city and regional awards, TAP won Best European Airline for Africa and South America, the Port of Lisbon won Best Cruise Port and DouroAzul won Best River Cruise Line.
