Epizootic Hemorrhagic Disease (EHE) has already been detected in 72 cattle in 44 livestock farms in Bizkaia, where two of these animals have died.
The deputy of Natural Environment and Agriculture, Arantza Atutxahas recognized that this infection, which does not affect human health, has been increasing in recent weeks.
The regional Government notified last week that 30 cases of this pathology had been detected in 25 livestock farms in Bizkaia.
He has sent a “message of tranquility” to citizens given that this disease, which is transmitted to cattle through the bite of a mosquito, does not affect people’s health.
The Provincial Council has asked farmers to be attentive to the symptoms that cows may present –edema, anorexia, fever…- since early detection is important to stop the disease.
