A man known as Australia’s worst pedophile suffered burns to his face after a fellow prisoner doused him with boiling water, a newspaper reported on Saturday. Daily mail.
Ashley Paul Griffith, accused of sexually abusing 91 girls in daycare centers over the past 15 years, was taken to hospital this Friday.
The water poured on the prisoner’s head was mixed with jelly, which aggravated the consequences of the incident. A Queensland Corrective Service spokeswoman confirmed no officers were injured.
Griffith’s identity was not known until Tuesday, but a change in Queensland law has made it possible to know who is accused of sex offenses before they appear in court.
The 45-year-old is accused of 1,623 child abuse offences, of which 136 are rapes. According to court documents, one of the victims, a 10-year-old minor, was subjected to 28 rapes and an additional 34 sexual assaults. At least 23 of the abused children were between the ages of one and five.
