UNITA wants to publish the results of the audit of public accounts

This Sunday, UNITA said that the Court of Auditors should publish the results of audits of the state’s accounts, not only as “an exercise of transparency”, but also “so that the resulting consequences can be assessed.”

This is one of the seven recommendations of the National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA), Angola’s main opposition party, in the final statement of the parliamentary days held in Malanje under the motto “For Democracy, Citizenship.” and inclusive development.”

The remaining proposals also essentially concern the financial sector. The UNITA parliamentary group recommends that a budget technical support unit be created to support the monitoring of the execution of the general state budget (OGB) and that the National Assembly “effectively monitor the actions of the executive that lead to the creation of the country’s debt.”

Black Rooster MPs also want the executive to implement multi-year budgets, set limits on public debt and additional borrowing, as well as documents relating to medium- and long-term debt, an annual tax performance report and a correction plan.

In a document published this Sunday, UNITA also considers that Angola is “on the verge of becoming an unviable state” due to the authoritarian rule of the ruling party (MPLA), which threatens the rule of law, and confirms the relevance of the proposed dismissal of the President of the Republic

The XI Parliamentary Days of UNITA, held from October 3 to 7, 2023 in the city of Malanje, were attended by deputies and board members of UNITA, the political project PRA-JA and the Democratic Bloc, as well as guests from civil society, religious entities and traditional authorities.

These days included visits to all municipalities of the province of Malanje (north) in order to maintain direct contact with citizens, communities, and public and private institutions.
