Portugal beat Fiji 24-23 this Sunday in the final group stage of the Rugby World Cup in France, in a match in which the national team once again put in a strong performance.
In a match with one of the world powers (8th place in the ranking), Portugal won the first victory in its history at the World Championships.
In what was always a balanced encounter, Portugal went into half-time with a draw (3-3) before building a 17-10 lead in the second half. But the Fiji Islands responded and, knowing they could not lose by more than eight points or be eliminated, they upped the tempo and took the lead. But the team did not give up and, thanks to a try and corresponding implementation, won the match with a score of 24-23.
