One of the four accused from the Chamusca family, who were tried in the Santarém court for drug and arms trafficking, will serve an effective prison sentence. This is a 21-year-old young man who was the main accused. He was sentenced to five years and two months in prison.
The father and mother, aged 54 and 43, each received two years and six months probation. The defendant’s 28-year-old partner was sentenced to two years in prison for drug trafficking, with the sentence suspended.
The court found that the production, distribution and sale of cannabis had been proven since at least 2020, with the cultivation and preparation taking place at the home of the son and partner, as well as at the home of the parents, in the village where they all live. The defendants also packaged and prepared hashish, which they sold to consumers in Chamusca and neighboring municipalities.
