TAP has suspended flights to Tel Aviv in Israel due to the situation in the country following a surprise attack on Saturday by the Palestinian Islamic group Hamas, the airline said on Monday.
“TAP has decided to suspend flights to and from Tel Aviv due to the situation in Israel. Passengers who have tickets booked before the end of October can reschedule at no additional cost or request a refund,” reads a note posted by TAP on its website. Web site.
On Saturday, the airline had already announced in a note sent to Lusa the cancellation of flights scheduled for Sunday and this Monday to or from Tel Aviv.
Like TAP, French news agency AFP reported, several airlines canceled flights to Tel Aviv following the Hamas attack on Israel.
Among the companies that have canceled flights are Lufthansa, Emirates, Ryanair, Aegan Airlines, Air France and American Airlines.
The Islamic group Hamas launched a surprise attack into Israel on Saturday dubbed Al-Aqsa Storm, firing thousands of rockets and invading armed militias by land, sea and air.
In response to the surprise attack, Israel air-bombed several Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip in an operation dubbed Operation Iron Swords.
The attacks and military response resulted in more than 1,000 deaths and more than 1,000 injuries.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel is “at war” with Hamas.
