The Portuguese team returns to training this Wednesday in what will be their last training session at the Cidade do Futebol stadium in Oeiras before heading to Porto where they will face Slovakia in Euro 2024 qualifying on Friday.
In Portugal, the session is scheduled to start at 6pm, with the first 15 minutes of training open to the media after selector Roberto Martinez invited the 24 players currently in training camp on Tuesday.
There were 26 men on the initial roster, but first Raphael Guerreiro and then Ricardo Horta were released due to injury.
Before today’s training, at 17:15, also at Cidade do Futebol, the yet-to-be-named player will address reporters at a press conference.
Portugal has another training session scheduled for Thursday, but this time at the Dragao stadium in Porto, where the match with the Slovaks will take place.
Portugal will face Slovakia on Friday at 19:45 and if they win, they will automatically qualify for the final phase of the next European Championship. Three days later, on the 16th, the national team plays in Bosnia and Herzegovina at 19:45 (Lisbon time).
After six rounds, Portugal retain their overall victory and top Group J with 18 points, five more than second-place Slovakia. Luxembourg is third with 10 points, followed by Bosnia and Iceland (both with six) and Liechtenstein, still without points.
In addition to six victories in the same number of matches, Roberto Martinez’s team has a record of 24 goals scored and not a single one conceded.
In November, Portugal will close out the qualifying round with a trip to Liechtenstein and an invitation to Iceland.
The first two places in the group give direct access to the final phase of Euro 2024.
