The Portuguese football team travels to Porto this Thursday and trains at the Dragao Stadium for Friday’s clash with Slovakia, which could guarantee Portugal’s qualification to the final stages of Euro 2024.
In Portugal, training is scheduled for 18:00, the first 15 minutes of which will be open to the media. This training will be the last training session of the team under the leadership of Roberto Martinez before the match of the seventh round of Group J.
Before that, the Portuguese delegation will travel to Porto in the morning, and at 17:15 Martinez and a player, who has not yet been named, will announce the game with the Slovaks at a press conference, also in Dragao.
In case of victory, Portugal automatically guarantees access to the final stage of the next European Championship, which will be held in Germany. On Monday the national team plays in Bosnia and Herzegovina at 19:45 (Lisbon time).
After six rounds, Portugal retain their overall victory and top Group J with 18 points, five more than second-place Slovakia. Luxembourg is third with 10 points, followed by Bosnia and Iceland (both with six) and Liechtenstein, still without points.
In addition to six victories in the same number of matches, Roberto Martinez’s team has a record of 24 goals scored and not a single one conceded.
In November, Portugal will close out the qualifying round with a trip to Liechtenstein and an invitation to Iceland.
The first two places in the group give direct access to the final phase of Euro 2024.
