Two women who were in a car that rammed a car carrying PSP agents in Porto on Tuesday, leading to a shootout that left one person dead, have been charged, a police source told Lusa this Thursday.
According to a source from the PSP Porto capital command, the women attended their first interrogation on Tuesday as they were required to have tenure, identity and place of residence.
The exchange of shots also left one person slightly injured, who was also arrested and will appear in court this Thursday for such enforcement action as is deemed appropriate.
In a statement on Tuesday, the PSP said that police from the Porto Metropolitan Command had recovered in the Campanha area a car that had previously been stolen using the caraj method and that had been used in several robberies at gas stations.
“When attempting to approach the suspicious vehicle and its passengers, a collision occurred with police cars and police officers,” police said.
The PSP added that “in circumstances that have not yet been clarified, police officers involved in the entry fired several shots at the vehicle, injuring two occupants.”
Both women were still in the car in which the suspected group was traveling and were detained, a source in the Porto capital command previously told Lusa news agency.
On Wednesday, the Inspectorate General of Public Administration (IAGI) said that, by order of the Minister of Internal Administration, an investigation had been launched to “clarify under what circumstances elements of the PSP operated.”
The PSP also announced on Wednesday that it had launched an investigation into the events that took place in Campanana.
