The Vila Real court this Thursday sentenced a man to five years and six months in prison for the attempted murder of a pregnant woman during a contempt that occurred in July 2022 in this city.
The defendant, a 52-year-old stall owner, was sentenced by a panel of judges at the Vila Real Court to five years and six months’ imprisonment for the crime of qualified murder and attempted payment and ordered to pay 4,323 pence. euros to the Tras os Montes and Alto Douro Hospital Center (CHTMAD) for the assistance provided to the victim.
The riots occurred at the end of July on a public road near the Vila Real theater, involving several people, shooting, throwing stones and sticks.
As a result of this fight, according to the then police, three were injured, including a pregnant woman who, despite the injury, did not face any risk to her life.
The victims of the disrespect were taken to the CHTMAD office in Vila Real in private vehicles, and when PSP and PJ arrived on the scene, the shooter had already disappeared.
The arrest of the accused was announced by the Judicial Police (PJ) of Vila Real on September 2 last year.
Then the statement of the joint venture said that the man “for a futile reason, armed with a firearm, shot into the body of the victim, a pregnant woman,” who was 32 years old at that time.
The arrest was carried out in cooperation with PSP and GNR.
