The Faro PSP district command reported that three domestic violence suspects had been arrested in the past two days, two of them subject to the most serious coercive measure – preventive detention.
Two suspects were arrested in the city of Portimão after the police department of that city received a report of domestic violence, which, given its seriousness and the urgent need to take measures to ensure the safety of the victims, led to the development of very prompt evidence collection measures by the Criminal Investigation Department of Portimão . Thanks to this work, the Ministry of Justice of Portimão issued arrest warrants for the purpose of applying coercive measures against suspects.
This Thursday morning, the suspects, aged 33 and 51, were located, detained and present in court, with one of them given a measure of preventive detention and the other a measure prohibiting contact and approach to the victim, supported by electronic control.
The third arrest mentioned above was the result of an investigation carried out by the criminal investigation team of the Olhão police station, and the suspect, 36 years old, with a history of drug use, was repeatedly subjected to increasingly violent acts towards the victim. , so more effective enforcement measures were urgently needed to protect them. Based on the evidence already collected, the prosecutor’s office decided to issue an arrest warrant for the suspect, which was carried out last Wednesday.
This suspect was also present at the Faro court yesterday and was subject to preventive detention.
