The general surgery emergency department at the Aveiro hospital will be closed from 20:00 to 8:00 on Wednesday, the administration of the Baixo Vouga Hospital Center (CHBV) announced on Tuesday.
“The Baixo Vouga Hospital Center, EPE, reports that, despite all the efforts made to complete the medical scales, restrictions are expected in the functioning of the General Surgery Emergency Department of the Aveiro Hospital due to the commitment of general surgeons to the principles of the No Overtime Movement over 150 hours,” the message says.
“These restrictions will be felt between 20:00 on October 17 and 8:00 on October 18, during which general surgery emergency services will be closed,” he says.
According to the instructions, “during these periods, users should go to the nearest hospital departments.”
CHBV also states that “CODU/INEM, fire brigades, the referral hospital and nearby hospitals were notified in a timely manner.”
Let us recall that last weekend this service was already associated with the refusal of doctors to exceed the legally required 150 hours of overtime.
According to the president of the National Federation of Doctors (Fnam), about 2,500 doctors have already submitted a project of inaccessibility, and this situation is “affecting hospitals from the north to the south of the country.”
