The decision by System of Internal Security (SSI) Secretary General Paulo Viseu Pinheiro to raise the terrorist threat level to “Significant” – the second least serious on a four-level scale – has already led to the identification of 150 critical infrastructures being considered as possible targets of attacks.
For what CM As it turns out, the SSI, the organization that reports to Prime Minister António Costa and controls the activities of the security forces, ordered the removal of the list. These are airports, ports, dams, bridges, diplomatic and political facilities, as well as other places that are already patrolled more often.
Another specific measure, prompted by the increase in the level of terrorist threat, involves special attention to tourist spots in Lisbon, Porto and the Algarve. Portugal is a year-round tourist destination and the government wants to prevent possible attacks caused by the military situation between Israel and the terrorist movement Hamas.
