Possessive and jealous, the 23-year-old university student couldn’t accept the end of his five-month relationship and decided he would kill his ex-girlfriend. He armed himself with an 8-inch knife, nine cable ties and duct tape. Knowing the victim’s schedule and daily routine, he prepared an ambush for her on December 23 last year.
As soon as she arrived home in Porto, he dragged her to the freight elevator. The prosecutor’s office claims that they wanted to stab her in the stomach, but the “ex” defended herself and was hit in the arm. “Not satisfied,” the attacker stuck the knife in his neck and fled. The girl survived, and the man will now be tried for this crime.
The victim, who was on the 9th floor, went down to the 4th and turned to his uncles for help. She underwent emergency surgery. The attacker is under house arrest.
“Overwhelmed by feelings of jealousy and rejection (…) he just did not commit suicide for reasons beyond his control,” the indictment says. The defendant stated that their relationship was one of “unconditional love and irresistible passion.” He claimed that he acted to win her back and that he wore “bully clothes” that his “ex” liked. The plan was to “scare, charm and force her to come back to you.” I wanted to show him that he was “not a weakling,” but a “tough person.” “He planned to find her, subdue her, show her the knife and fake a kidnapping.” “The intent was reconciliation,” he said in the lawsuit. But the victim resisted, and he hit her. He realized the plan had “gone completely wrong,” he said.
