The pediatric emergency department at the García de Orta Hospital (HGO) in Almada will be closed at night, from 20:00 to 8:00, starting Wednesday, the institution announced this Monday.
In a statement, the hospital explained that the overnight closure of the pediatric emergency department was due to an inability to provide adequate nursing shifts following the filing of claims of inability to perform overtime over the legal limit starting Wednesday.
Day care, according to the hospital department, continues every day of the week, including Saturday and Sunday, and the neonatal and pediatric intensive care unit will continue to operate uninterrupted.
“HGO continues to actively work with clinical staff to find appropriate solutions and create the best conditions for the early opening of the pediatric emergency department at night,” he assures.
The hospital adds that it is important to contact SNS24 (808 24 24 24) and, in emergency situations, 112 before contacting other health care facilities in Lisbon and the Tagus Valley region.
In addition to emergencies, the HGO Pediatric Service provides response in outpatient departments such as the Pediatric Outpatient Consultation, the Children’s Day Hospital, the Torrado da Silva Child Development Center, as well as the continuous monitoring of all children hospitalized, including in the Medical Pediatrics Department. ward, in the intensive care unit for newborns and children, as well as in the postpartum period.
