A man was arrested for setting fire to the apartment he lived in in Kasem, Sintra, after learning he was about to be evicted from it by the property’s new owner.
The crime occurred on October 24, when, having learned that he was going to be forced to leave his place of residence, the man used a lighter and set fire to clothes and fabric that were in one of the bedrooms. living room, “causing two fires,” according to a statement from the Lisbon Prosecutor General’s Office. After that, he left the apartment and went to the nearest cafe.
According to the same post, the fire spread throughout the house, destroying “furniture, clothing and decorative items in the living room and bedroom.” The fire also damaged the walls and ceilings of the affected premises, as well as the structure of the house, leading to leaks in the apartment below “due to the use of water to extinguish the fire.”
