In the urbanization of Paraiso, located in the center of the city of Lamego, there is an apartment building that has suffered serious damage due to infiltration caused by the heavy rains felt in recent months and unfinished work on the roof of the building. .
The work, which was supposed to be carried out at the beginning of summer, began at the end of August and therefore there was not enough time for the material to dry properly.
This situation has already resulted in 3 families having to leave their homes for at least a week in September.
Andre Souza is one of the residents most affected: he has already had to leave his own home twice. He lives in someone else’s house for about 15 days. “The house is completely uninhabitable. The only place where it doesn’t rain is in the bathroom. I even had to sleep in the car for several days,” he told CM.
Collapsing ceiling panels, water on the floor, walls and furniture – this is what some residents found themselves in, who have not yet had time to do a good calculation, but are afraid that they will suffer losses of thousands of euros.
