John and Carey Hallford, owners of a funeral home in Oklahoma, USA, were arrested after 189 bodies were found on the premises in a state of advanced decomposition.
Authorities were called to Return to Nature Funeral Home after neighbors reported a foul odor coming from the locked building. After receiving a warrant to enter the area, they began finding bodies.
Since they are in an advanced stage of decomposition, the bodies are identified using DNA, progress is being made. AP News. Some were stored for more than four years.
John and Carey Holford were held on bail of two million dollars (about 1.8 million euros) on suspicion of four crimes – abuse of a corpse, theft, money laundering and forgery.
