Diogo Lacerda Machado will be the last accused to be questioned by a criminal judge this Thursday as part of an investigation into the lithium and green hydrogen business that led to the resignation of the prime minister. According to the ministry, the lawyer and consultant used his friendship with António Costa to influence decisions by the government and other organizations regarding Start Campus projects.
On Thursday morning, telephone wiretaps were played that were not transcribed for the trial. The interrogation of the first detainee, Nuno Mascarenhas, president of the Chamber of Sines, will begin this afternoon.
An investigation into lithium and green hydrogen projects led to Antonio Costa’s resignation on Tuesday after the ministry said the prime minister was the subject of an independent Supreme Court investigation.
