The Court of Accounts will continue proceedings to investigate possible financial violations against former TAR executives who paid Alexandra Reis compensation in the amount of 500 thousand euros, Observador reports. At issue is a decision regarding payments to former TAP executive board president Cristina Ourmier-Widener and Manuel Beja, the airline’s former chairman.
Both managers were fired following an investigation by the General Inspectorate of Finance regarding the payment of compensation to the former TAR administrator, but only now the Deputy Prosecutor General reported, according to the same newspaper, that “from the above-mentioned Monitoring The result of this process was a request from the prosecutor’s office, which initiated the process of determining financial responsibility.”
In March, the government fired two managers without compensation, according to Finance Minister Fernando Medina.
As part of the review, Christina Ourmier-Widener, who could sue the state for her dismissal, attributed the government to “the decision to terminate the contractual relationship with Alexandra Reis,” although the initiative came from her, and stated that the employment agreement to terminate the contract was confirmed by a legal opinion .
Christina’s contract with TAP is for five years, starting in June 2021 and ending in June 2026. The French manager was fired by the government with more than three years left in her term.
