This Friday, the City Council of Coimbra terminated its contractual relationship with the programmer of the Convento São Francisco (CSF), Luis Rodríguez, after an employee of Café Concerto filed a complaint with the PSP about the harassment of this person in charge.
An employee of the Café Concerto filed a complaint with the PSP on Tuesday regarding the harassment of the current programmer of this cultural space in Coimbra, Luis Rodriguez, as the target told the Lusa agency.
In response to Luce, the Coimbra Chamber stated that the matter should be dealt with “with due calm, avoiding hasty decisions often based on incorrect perceptions”, awaiting “the development and conclusions of the process of investigation that can be launched in order to establish the truth.”
“Naturally, the Municipality of Coimbra recognizes and affirms the importance of promoting institutional policies that exemplify a space effectively free from any form or suspicion of potential abuse or harassment. It is for these reasons, given the development of circumstances and the inevitable deterioration of the working relationship and his public image, that the Council of Coimbra understands that it must immediately suspend the contractual relationship with the current programmer, putting an end to the functions he performed at Convento São Francisco,” the municipality added.
The Coimbra City Council admitted that it was “generally” aware of the situation and that the complaint was made “very recently”, immediately asking the programmer to start working from home and at the same time providing psychological support to the complainant. even “there is no labor relationship with the municipality.”
The Lusa agency had access to the notice that PSP gave to the 20-year-old complainant after she filed a criminal complaint on Tuesday in which she accuses Luis Rodriguez of harassing her by constantly sending her messages through the WhatsApp application. , offering him a ride several times and ultimately blocking contact.
Even after the blockade, the CSF programmer, who began his duties in June on a contract basis, continued to try in various ways to contact the young woman, who no longer felt safe leaving her workplace, the complainant told Lusa.
“I don’t know the situation,” was the only answer Luis Rodriguez gave to Lusa during a short phone call, refusing to make any further statements.
The CSF programmer subsequently sent a written message to Lusa, stating that he had not submitted “any resignation letter and there is no legal factual basis for it.”
According to the complainant, Luis Rodriguez had access to her mobile phone number in August when he asked her to send a letter to Café Concerto via WhatsApp, which was only available as a digital PDF document.
The information is confirmed by a WhatsApp conversation that Lusa consulted, with the first interaction being the sending of this email.
A few months later, Luis Rodriguez offered to give the victim a ride when she finished her work shift at a café.
After the young woman agreed to go on a trip one day, the Convento programmer began insisting on offers of trips, invitations to which were always refused, the applicant told Lusa, a version confirmed by WhatsApp messages.
After an invitation to travel that went unanswered, Luis Rodriguez told the victim that if he wanted to start a career in the technical field of theater, there might be “some opportunities in Coimbra” “at the beginning of next year.”
“I would say you have a profile for this,” the programmer says in a message sent on October 16.
Subsequently, the young woman, feeling harassed, decided to block the CSF programmer’s WhatsApp contact.
After blocking the contact, Luis Rodriguez sent a text asking if he could talk, but received no response.
According to the girl, the programmer decided to send the first written note with a request to talk with the applicant on October 20.
Five days later he sent a longer text message asking the complainant to “please” have coffee with him.
“If you want, I can even promise that I will never bother you again. Don’t worry, I won’t create any unpleasant situations for you,” he said.
Having received no response, on November 1, he sent a second written note asking to spend “15 minutes” with the offended woman, after work; on October 24, after work, the young woman made it clear to Luis Rodriguez in a conversation in a cafe that she did not want to talk to him and that she was uncomfortable communicating with him, the young woman told Lusa.
“I promise I won’t put you in an uncomfortable situation! Please! “I’m in my car,” you can read in the second note to which Lusa had access.
The girl told the Lusa agency that she eventually quit Café Concerto due to the current situation, and recently began to be afraid to leave CSF alone after the end of her shift, which usually happens at night.
