Portugal secured a place in the men’s individual trampoline competition at the 2024 Paris Olympics this Saturday after Pedro Ferreira and Gabriel Albuquerque secured their place in the final of the World Gymnastics Championships in Birmingham, England.
Despite being represented by two gymnasts in the final scheduled for Sunday, Portugal was only eligible for a quota for Paris 2024, like China and Japan, who will also have two representatives in the World Championships decider.
With a score of 59.890 in the routine, Pedro Ferreira finished sixth in the second qualifying, one place ahead of Gabriel Albuquerque, who finished seventh with 59.870 points.
For the first time in history, Portugal fielded two gymnasts in the individual trampoline final of the World Championships.
This is Portugal’s 21st participation at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
