The annual inflation rate fell in October to 2.9% in the eurozone and 3.6% in the European Union (EU), the lowest in more than two years, Eurostat reported this Friday.
Across the eurozone, annual inflation fell to 2.9% in October, down from 4.3% in September and 10.6% in the same month in 2022, reaching its lowest level since August 2021 (3.0%).
Overall, the 27 EU member states saw an inflation rate of 3.6%, up from 4.9% in the previous month and 11.5% in October 2022, the same as September 2021 (3.6%).
According to the EU statistics office, the lowest annual inflation rates, as measured by the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP), were recorded in Belgium (-1.7%), the Netherlands (-1.0%) and Denmark (-0.4%). and the highest, in turn, in Hungary (9.6%), the Czech Republic (9.5%) and Romania (8.3%).
