Frederico Varandas, who explained that he will speak about Sporting during the ceremony, commented on the Extraordinary General Assembly (AG) of FC Porto, marked by confrontation between the partners, which led to the suspension of the main meeting.
“The club is hostage to the Praetorian Guard, but I think we need to have the courage to say that the real problem is not this Praetorian Guard, but who fed them and gave them power for decades,” stressed Frederico Varandas.
The Lions president also stated that “whoever orders this Praetorian Guard to do this against opponents, judges, journalists, when necessary, also does it against his own members.”
“It has a name and it’s in every social studies textbook,” Varandas said, avoiding asking whether he was referring to Pinto da Costa, the president of the Porto football club.
