A career review of senior public service technicians due to take place in 2025 will directly increase the salaries of around 40,000 workers and cost €69 million, the government said on Wednesday.
The figures were presented to reporters by Public Administration Minister Ines Ramirez at the end of a round of negotiations with trade union structures to improve the overall value of the careers of senior technical specialists.
At issue is a new senior technician career structure that will see 11 high-paying roles from January 2025, up from the current 14, resulting in immediate “jumps” in the pay table for around 40,000 of the 65,000 senior technicians.
As the Secretary of State explained, the first position, which currently has a base salary of €1,122.84, will cease to exist and the approximately 1,250 senior technicians currently employed here will transfer directly to the new entry-level position, €1,333.35, which gives a salary increase of 210 euros.
On the other hand, the 22,000 senior technical specialists who already hold this position (earning €1,333.35) will only move up to a higher level when they achieve sufficient points in the performance assessment, but with a progression of €250 (instead of the current 200 euros). .
Thanks to the combined effect of the new 11-position pay table and the new performance appraisal system (SIADAP), a senior technician with an excellent performance rating will reach the pinnacle of his career with 27 years of service, compared to the current 40 years for the same worker. years to achieve this, said Ines Ramirez.
The career peak for a senior technician will remain at 58, corresponding to a base salary of €3,561.11. The job employs about 580 people, a government official said.
Ines Ramirez clarified that only senior technical specialists in the second position (1333.35 euros), tenth position (2916.89 euros) and last (3561.11 euros) will not receive an immediate salary increase in 2025 as a result of the transition to a new salary structure. .
Workers with a doctorate will also receive a salary increase of €105 to €1,859.67 in 2025, making them entry-level remuneration.
The Secretary of State also stated that senior technicians who will receive an immediate promotion in 2025 through the transition to the new table will nevertheless lose their performance evaluation points in recent years on a pro-rata basis.
