Social Security paid out pensions on Monday with an increase planned for 2023, a measure that covers 2.7 million pensioners and costs 1.265 million euros, the guardianship said on Wednesday.
A statement from the Office of Minister Ana Méndez Godinho indicated that “On January 9, the social security system has started paying January pensions with an expected increase for 2023.”
Thus, the payment was made despite the fact that the renewal decree was published in Diário da República only on Monday at the end of the day.
“A total of 3.7 million pensions have been increased, benefiting 2.7 million Social Security and CGA retirees. [Caixa Geral de Aposentações]”, emphasizes the department, adding that “the annual cost of the event is 1.265 million euros.”
At stake is an increase of 4.83% for pensions up to €960.86 (a value corresponding to two IFRS Social Support Index), a 4.49% increase for pensions from €960.87 to €2882.58 (from two to six IFRS) and by 3.89% for pensions equal to or above EUR 2,882.59 (6 to 12 IFRS).
CGA pensions will also be paid out on the 19th, with increases planned, according to the ministry.
The regulation establishing the annual increase in pensions for 2023 was published on Monday in Diário da República and entered into force on January 1.
