Agustina Scaglia, a cousin of Messi’s wife, was the victim of a brutal robbery this week as she was about to deposit money with an employee at the family supermarket in Rosario, Argentina.
According to the Argentine newspaper Clarín, both women were still in the car when they were caught by two robbers getting out of another car. Agustina also took a maneuver in an attempt to avoid being robbed, but ended up colliding with another vehicle. In response, one of the robbers fired at the back door.
When the thieves realized that Messi’s cousin’s car had already been stopped, they broke the windows and took bags of money. According to Clarín, the robbers took about 20,500 euros (eight million Argentine pesos).
In March, Messi’s family supermarket has already been the target of an attack. The authors left a message: “Messi, we are waiting for you, Dzhavkin (mayor of Rosario) is a drug addict, he will not protect you.”
