The trade union Association of Chief Prison Guards (ASCCGP) has planned a general strike for this Thursday 19 December, demanding, among other things, the introduction of measures that will make the career more attractive.
According to the strike notice, the ASCCGP defended the creation of a new professional charter, urgent regulation of the certification of prison guards, the payment of a prison security bonus to team leaders (which has not happened since 2014), and “an objective solution to the structural problems of the prison system.”
The union also warned of the need to cancel the protocol of the evaluation coordination council for 2022.
In a statement, ASCCGP said the protocol only became known this Monday because “its contents and specific indicators, presented almost ten months after the employee spoke, are subjective, targeted, incoherent, offensive and humiliating.”
“There is a normalization of constant functional humiliation on the part of guardians. “Continuously deteriorating appalling working conditions, low and ridiculous salaries, meager career prospects, notorious lack of recognition, deteriorating career image and the growing social stigma of the profession are more than alarming reasons for the government’s action,” the prison guard chiefs said.
This preliminary notice, submitted to the government, the chairmen of the governments of the autonomous regions, the Directorate General of Reintegration and Prison Services (DGRSP) and the directors of prisons, states that the strike will take place from 00:00 to 23:59 on December 19th. .
