The building in which the parish council of Vale dos Frades works, in the municipality of Vimioso, was robbed by unknown persons who were only interested in the safe. Only later did they realize that such a desired goal did not contain anything valuable inside.
The robbery happened early last Thursday morning. To gain entry into the parish council building, the robbers, the number of whom has not yet been established, used a crowbar to break down the front door. Once inside, they focused their attention on the safe built into one of the walls of the room. And in the remaining sections of the building they were no longer interested in anything.
After some effort to remove the approximately 50cm high safe from the wall, the robbers carried it to a car parked outside and fled.
According to a source in the parish council, there was also a computer and other items of some monetary value, but which the thieves had not even touched. Inside the safe were documents and seals with the coat of arms of the junta, but nothing valuable.
The broken door was noticed by GNR soldiers patrolling the area. GNR is investigating and is now trying to find those responsible for the robbery.
