The leader of the PS/Açores announced this Sunday his support for Pedro Nuno Santos in the internal elections for Socialist Secretary General, believing that he is the candidate best prepared to “promote and implement the changes that the PS needs.”
“Of the three names that were ready to take part in this competition, Daniel Adrian, José Luis Carneiro and Pedro Nuno Santos, my support, as a mass activist of the PS, belongs to Pedro Nuno Santos,” stated Vasco Cordeiro in a publication on his official account in social network Facebook, highlighting the former minister’s “determination, ambition and sense of the future.”
The President of PS/Açores believes that “taking into account the political context and the situation in the PS, Pedro Nuno Santos, due to his personal and political characteristics, is the Secretary General” that the party needs.
According to Vasco Cordeiro, the former infrastructure minister is the candidate who “has the best conditions to promote and implement the changes that the Socialist Party needs.”
“In my opinion, it is extremely important that things change effectively so that things don’t stay the same, so that we can move forward and never go back,” he defended.
In a message published today on social networks, the President of the European Committee of the Regions also touched on the issue of regional autonomies, saying that “Pedro Nuno Santos’ vision and willingness to follow the path of deepening autonomies, which at the same time make them, like the whole country, stronger, more united and less haunted by unjust and unjustified fears.”
For the direct socialist elections on December 15 and 16, three candidates have so far been presented: the current interior minister, José Luis Carneiro, the former infrastructure minister, Pedro Nuno Santos, and Daniel Adrian, leader of the minority line opposing the current general.
