19-year-old motorcyclist dies in Arouca accident

An 18-year-old footballer from Oliveirense died this Sunday in a motorcycle accident in Lugar do Tojal, in the parish of Chave, in Arouca.

The club mourned the death of Angelo Silva, a team athlete. “During this difficult time, we can only remember Angelo as an example of the man, athlete and comrade he always was,” Oliveirense wrote in a post on the social network Facebook.

The accident occurred at 1232 Municipal Estrada Street and the alarm was sounded at 4:03 p.m., local fire chief Jose Goncalves told Lusa.

When emergency services arrived at the scene, the young man was in “cardiopulmonary arrest and was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later,” the source added.
