On Tuesday, ANA guaranteed it would carry out work at Humberto Delgado Airport that the state deems necessary and expressed concern over the lack of a short-term solution in the report of the new airport’s technical committee.
“At Humberto Delgado Airport, ANA will continue to carry out the works necessary for its proper functioning, as well as the works that the grantor deems necessary,” assured the airport manager in a statement sent to Lusa.
The Prime Minister announced on Tuesday that the last meeting of the Council of Ministers before the government’s resignation on Thursday in Porto would approve a resolution ordering immediate work on the ANA at Lisbon’s Humberto Delgado Airport.
This decision was announced by António Costa at the end of the presentation of the preliminary report on the location of the new Lisbon Airport, which was presented by the President of the Independent Technical Commission, Rosario Partidário, at the LNEC (National Laboratory of Civil Engineering). , in Lisbon.
In the same note, ANA – Aeroportos de Portugal expressed “concerns about the lack of a short-term solution” in a report published on Tuesday, “taking into account the current needs of the country.”
ANA also expressed its willingness to be “at the disposal of the Portuguese state to share its knowledge of the complex problems in the sector and to implement the solution that will be the subject of its decision.”
The airport manager of the multinational company Vinci also believed that CTI had “adopted an orientation that responded to an idealistic long-term vision without being able to respond to the real and pragmatic short- and medium-term problems that are fundamental to the country.” .
The AHA was heard during the commission’s work, but expressed regret that this did not happen in its capacity as an industry expert.
“Some comments submitted to the commission on economic, trade, operational and technical issues were thus left without any reference,” he emphasized.
CTI, responsible for the strategic environmental assessment of increasing airport capacity in the Lisbon region, presented on Tuesday a preliminary report that will be subject to public consultation and serve as the basis for the government’s decision on the new airport.
Of the nine options being studied, the commission considered that Alcochete had the greatest advantage: in the first stage it would use a dual model with Humberto Delgado Airport, and then move to a single infrastructure on the south bank of the Tagus River.
The ANA also said it would take part in the public consultation.
