The National Union of Chiefs of Police for Public Security (SNCC/PSP) claims that the new addition to the mission, appointed by the government of the Judicial Police (PJ), is motivated by the desire to control criminal investigations.
In an announcement published this Wednesday in the journal Jornal de Notícias, the union questions the reasons for the measure adopted by the Council of Ministers last week and refers to Operation Influencer, which ultimately led to the fall of the government, as a possible attempt. the motivation for introducing PJ supplementation is that it is supposedly “easier to control.”
“The operation called “Influential Man” and its unpredictability, since the prosecutor’s office entrusted it to the Public Security Police, explains a lot,” one can read in the SNCC/PSP note, which continues: “So perhaps this has implications for this (PS) The government will continue to control investigations and court decisions, rewarding some and discrediting others.”
Given that the attribution of the new addition to the SP’s mission is aimed at “reducing the PSP’s investigative powers and controlling ‘damage'”, SNCC/PSP also criticizes the government’s “charity vision” for providing 68 euros as a subsidy for the security forces and “rationality bias”, caused by the disappearance of the Foreigners and Borders Service (SEF), followed by the integration of most elements into the SP.
He also questions the value of the assigned mission allowance of “about €1,000 for porters, drivers, investigators, etc.,” as well as the reasons why the national director of the criminal police authority has a higher salary than the President of the Republic.
On the other hand, the union of PSP leaders accuses the government of putting forward as the only measure to attract candidates “accommodation (in a kind of ghetto), paid for from the funds of the social services” of this police force.
“In a country where more than a million people receive a minimum wage of 820 euros, this measure (surcharge/bonus of 960 euros) is not moral, ethical or socially acceptable. It is important to have a public position for everyone so that silence is not confused with “glass roofs,” he concludes.
The SNCC/PSP position stems from the negative reaction to the announcement of a mission extension for PJ from several trade unions in the sector, namely those associated with the PSP, as well as the GNR and prison guards.
Associations and unions representing the PSP and GNR are meeting this Wednesday to discuss joint action to combat this “unequal treatment between different security agencies,” the Professional Police Union Association announced.
According to the Ministry of Justice, the new mission allowance (paid for 14 months) is intended for “employees of special professions and general occupations of the SP, for performing duties in risky, unhealthy and painful conditions” and has a monthly value indexation. to the monthly basic remuneration of the national director of the JV “and is calculated according to the specific conditions associated with the respective career and functions”, which in some cases can reach an increase of almost 700 euros per month.
