The underwater search for Monica Silva, the missing pregnant woman from Murtosa, took place on Wednesday morning near Ponte de Varela, at the mouth of Aveiro. The body of the pregnant woman was not found.
The operation was initially coordinated by Monica’s brother, António Silva. However, the family hired a specialized company to conduct searches at the mouth of the river.
A company of professional divers coordinated the operations for free as a form of support for the family, who had not heard from Monica for two months.
The area where the searches were carried out is dangerous, with poor visibility and a lot of dirt, so the operations were carried out under surveillance with the support of NCIS.
Before the divers entered, sonar scanned the entire search area and identified 13 suspicious areas and potential hazards.
A security perimeter was established to prevent other vessels from passing through the area during the search.
NCIS also contacted the Murtosa Volunteer Fire Department to assist in the event of an emergency.
Dozens of people gathered at the scene of the operation to express solidarity with the family of the missing woman.
Monica Silva disappeared on October 3 after leaving her home with the help of an ultrasound. He even called his son and said that he would be home in ten minutes, but did not give any further news. At that time I was seven months pregnant.
