About ten members of the PSP and GNR this Thursday accused the government of neglect by not being allowed to hand over the manifesto to the Prime Minister and the Minister of Internal Administration (MAI).
Since 9:30 a.m., about a dozen PSP and PNP members have gathered outside the Porto City Council, where a decentralized meeting of the Council of Ministers is taking place.
Speaking to reporters, the president of the Association of Police Unions (ASPP/PSP), Paulo Santos, explained that the goal was to convey the proposal to the Prime Minister and the Minister of Internal Administration (MAI), but the union representatives were not allowed to do so. do it.
“The government itself, in such a process, which is even harmful for it, leaves internal security specialists here in the rain and cold. This doesn’t seem to be the right option,” said a union leader a few minutes’ walk away from demobilization.
“Obviously we cannot be ignored again. We have dignity. We don’t want to show signs of poverty that we are not. It’s bad for those who commit these acts, it’s not bad for the professionals who ensured the functioning of the country regarding internal security,” he added.
The presence in the vicinity of the Porto City Council marks the start of a series of demonstrations organized by the PSP trade unions and the GNR associations against what they consider unequal treatment and income differences in relation to the Judicial Police (PJ). .
“Under all political conditions, there is a desire to convene all PSP unions, GNR representative structures and agree on the necessary reformulation of the condition and addition to the change,” said Paulo Santos, answering the question of whether the current political situation could influence a possible agreement.
