According to UTAD, at the University of Trás os Montes, the initiative involves students studying basic education who made pine trees, nativity scenes, holiday wreaths and various Christmas decorations such as balls, stars, bells, hearts and angels of different sizes.
“This solidarity action began as a response to students’ concerns about social issues, especially access to education in developing countries, and has already resulted in the production of more than 200 works, which clearly shows the commitment and dedication of the students involved,” the statement said, quoting Professor Rita Azevedo.
Trás-os-Montes Academy said Padre Jonas Daycare will support 300 children and their families.
The sale of the works will take place from Tuesday to Wednesday at the School of Humanities and Social Sciences (ECHS) at the UTAD campus in Vila Real, and they can be purchased for prices ranging from one to five euros. individually or in sets.
Solsef was founded in 1993 and over its 30 years of operation has supported 100,705 people in nine countries, with 57% of beneficiaries being women.
Last year, during the entire Christmas campaign, which ran from September to January, the organization managed to collect 38,475 euros to support a teacher qualification project in Guinea-Bissau.
