BBC presenter opens newscast with middle finger raised

Maryam Moshiri, central player BBCaccidentally opened the broadcast BBC News live with the middle finger and raised eyebrows. After a few seconds, when she realized she was alive, the presenter quickly lowered her hand and assumed a more serious pose to break the news.

This Thursday, Maryam Moshiri apologized for the incident in a post made on the X platform, formerly called Twitter. The presenter said that before the start of the broadcast she joked with the team, “a stupid joke designed for a small number of friends” and that she did not intend to offend anyone.

“I pretended to count down [para iniciar a emissão], and the director counted from 10 to 0, including his fingers to show the number. When we got to the first one, I turned it over as a joke and didn’t know it was going to be filmed,” explained Maryam Moshiri.
