The increase in doctors’ salaries will have a budgetary impact of 90 million euros per year starting next year, the Ministry of Health (MS) confirmed to Lusa.
“A wage review agreed with the Independent Union of Doctors (SIM) is being implemented, in particular regarding the assessment of the necessary procedure for applying the agreement in the field of medical professionals in accordance with labor relations and trade union rights,” the guardianship indicates in the response sent to Lusa.
“MC” recalls that the National Federation of Doctors (FNAM), which did not sign the interim agreement on November 28, “defends that its members have the right to its results.”
“For the purpose of assessing specialists, the review of the salary scales agreed with SIM is part of a more comprehensive reform of health professions in the National Health Service (SNS), which will also come into force next year with the application of the full commitment regime, a synthesis of the B model of family health services (USF ) and the creation of new Centers for Comprehensive Responsibility (CRI) with salary increases of more than 40% for specialists adhering to new work models,” he adds. .
Doctors in medical centers and hospitals who want to switch to full-time mode will receive a salary increase of more than 43% in January.
In the last week of November, the government reached a YES agreement on wage increases in January 2024 and concluded negotiations with trade union organizations.
The interim agreement to review NHS doctors’ pay scales includes increases of 14.6% for 40-hour hospital assistants, 12.9% for graduate assistants and 10.9% for senior graduate assistants.
This Monday, Fnam accused the government of bragging, saying that the MC will not be able to attract doctors to the SNS through the agreement.
“With a bad contract and a new regime of work, complete dedication, which violates the basic principles of the Constitution, the Ministry of Health will not be able to recruit and restore doctors for the SNS,” he warned, pointing out that Health Minister Manuel Pizarro prefers to “raise false doubts about possible remuneration tables” .
That day, Prime Minister António Costa said his government had carried out “the most profound reform” since the creation of the SNA, “with the creation of an executive department.”
