The Judicial Police (PJ) collaborated with German authorities in an operation aimed at apprehending a 31-year-old man suspected of involvement in a criminal scheme involving several computer crimes.
In February this year, the joint venture arrested seven suspects for dozens of crimes related to “abuse of a guarantee card or card, device or payment data (aggravated), computer fraud and money laundering (fraud over 300 thousand euros).
The man detained this Wednesday is suspected of being one of the mentors of a project carried out by previously detained suspects.
According to the statement of the joint venture, given the “strong evidence” that a person residing in Hamburg, Germany, was the organizer of criminal activities carried out on national territory, it was proposed to issue a European arrest warrant and cooperate with the German police.
“As a result of the above-mentioned operation, searches were carried out and a suspect was detained, who will await a decision on the coercive measure before making a decision on extradition to Portugal,” the statement said.
