Fewer than 10,000 senior technicians will see their salaries “jump” in January 2024, according to the Jornal de Negócios, citing a government source. The initial number of employees was 40 thousand people. At the moment there will be 9.6 thousand technical specialists, which will be increased through the final rules for moving to new career positions and the so-called “progress accelerator”.
According to Negócios, the executive initially submitted a proposal that would have seen about 40,000 of the 68,000 senior technicians automatically switch to new careers, but this would have meant a proportional loss of performance evaluation points, which was disputed.
A source in the Presidium of the Council of Ministers told Negosios that the figure was put forward by mistake.
