Iranian student asks Marcelo to help her arrange her place of residence

This Friday in Aveiro, the President of the Republic encountered an Iranian student who had encountered difficulties in obtaining a residence permit in Portugal.

Upon his arrival at the University of Aveiro, where he participated in the ceremony celebrating the 50th anniversary of this institution, Marcelo Rebelo de Souza invited Areza Sheikhian, a graduate student in the Faculty of Electronics.

The mother of two children, one of whom is three years old and who has been studying in Aveiro for about a year, cannot bring them to Portugal because her situation has not yet been resolved.

As he reported to the President of the Republic, he tried several times to resolve the situation with the former Service for Foreigners and Border Guards, consistently receiving the answer to wait.

Marcelo Rebelo de Souza explained to an Iranian student that the Foreigners and Borders Service had gone through a complex disappearance process and that its powers had recently been distributed among several organizations.

Arezu Sheikhyan appealed to the President of the Republic to pay attention to his case, personally sending a statement about his situation, written in Portuguese.
