A 22-year-old man died in a motorcycle accident he was riding on the Urbana de Almeirim ring road, next to the Pingo Doce supermarket, at around 9pm on Friday.
When emergency services arrived at the scene, the deceased, João Reguinga, was already in critical condition and, despite resuscitation measures, could not survive the injuries received as a result of the fall and was pronounced dead at the scene.
João Reguinga was a well-known and respected young man in Fazendas de Almeirim, where he lived, and was a motocross enthusiast after training on a bike with the Associação 20Kms de Almeirim team in his youth.
The relief operations included the VMER of the Vila Franca de Xira Hospital, the volunteer firefighters of Almeirim and the GNR, which is investigating the causes of the accident.
The young man’s family received psychological support from the INEM team at the scene.
