Preventive detention of six suspects for kidnapping, robbery and theft in Castelo Branco

Six of the seven detained by the Judicial Police (PJ) on the 12th in the Castelo Branco district on suspicion of crimes of kidnapping, aggravated robbery and theft will await investigation in pre-trial detention.

The information was released this Monday by the Office of the Prosecutor (PO) of Castelo Branco in a note published on the official website of this office on the Internet.

Six men and a woman of English and Brazilian nationality, aged between 37 and 52 years, suspected of having committed crimes of aggravated robbery and kidnapping in the Castelo Branco area, were processed by the PS on the 11th and 12th during the scope of the investigation being carried out under the leadership of the Member of Parliament of the 1st Investigation Division of the Castelo Branco Department of Investigation and Criminal Affairs (DIAP).

The arrests were made by the leadership of the PS Center as part of Operation Mirage and in accordance with the arrest warrant issued by the DIAP to Castel Branco, and searches of houses were also carried out.

The accused attended their first judicial examination on the 13th and 14th “as they are seriously accused of committing co-authorship and effective competition of the crimes of aggravated robbery and kidnapping in 2020 and 2021.”

“Following a judicial interrogation carried out at the initiative of the prosecutor’s office, six of the accused were subject to mandatory preventive detention and a contact ban, and one of them was subject to an obligation to periodically appear; prohibition to be absent in Portuguese. territory and a ban on contacts,” the deputy said.

The investigation continues under the direction of the Castelo Branco prosecutor’s office with the assistance of the Directorate of the Justice Center.
