Hamas refuses a new truce and says it will release the hostages only after the end of the “Israeli aggression” against Gaza

Hamas and other Palestinian factions on Thursday refused to negotiate a new release of hostages until Israel completely stops its offensive in the Gaza Strip, dashing hopes for a new pause in the conflict.

In a joint statement, Hamas and other Palestinian groups, including Islamic Jihad, said they had made a “concerted national decision” not to release any more hostages until “Israeli aggression” ceases. The announcement came after a new round of “tense negotiations” in Cairo on Wednesday, which included Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh and ended without progress due to opposing positions between the parties.

Let us recall that Israel intended to negotiate a new week-long “humanitarian pause” in exchange for the release of more hostages, including the last women in the hands of the terrorist group. The US says the talks in Cairo were “serious” but did not produce positive results. “We keep trying,” President Joe Biden said.
