President Chegi said this Sunday that the political crisis should be a moment to “gain clarity on the choices” that need to be made in 2024, citing “poverty, corruption and mistrust of institutions” as problems.
“This time and this moment of political upheaval should also be a moment for us to gain clarity on the choices we must make next year,” the Chegi leader said in a video Christmas message released by the party.
Ventura argued that the country was experiencing “a crisis not only of poverty, but also of disillusionment, distrust of institutions and corruption.”
“The first goal of a politician who wants to find a solution for the country is to declare that he will fight for the solution of these problems firmly, without self-interest, without attachment to any interest, with the sole purpose of protecting life, protecting family, protecting property, protect the prosperity of the Portuguese,” he believed.
According to President Chegi, “the Portuguese enter this Christmas with great anxiety for the future, as well as with great surprise and bewilderment about what the events of 2024 might be like,” anticipating a “difficult year.”
However, Ventura called for a “spirit of trust and firmness” and believes that in 2024 “Portugal will be a much better place.”
“The country is at a difficult stage, but Christmas is the spirit of confidence, firmness and great strength that we need together to face the challenges of Portugal in 2024,” he said.
